Q: What is the most important thing in your life and why?

A: The most important thing in my life is my relationship with the Lord. I once used to be so focused on my athletics that my sport got in the way of seeing the Lord. I called myself a 'Christian athlete'. But, I have changed the way I see things. I now call myself an 'Athletic Christian'; where athletic is the adjective and Christian is the subject and not the other way around. What is important to me is my walk with the Lord and I strive daily to walk with Him. I have realized that I must cling to the Lord and let Him control all aspects of my life.

Q: How does your perception of softball/athletics differ now than prior to becoming a Christian?

A: It really doesn't matter who wins or loses, who's the best, who hits better, who hit the homerun, who made the error, who has the most RBI's, etc. All of that is meaningless to me now where it used to control my daily thoughts. I used to be very prideful in my sport and find my fulfillment through it. Now I play for a new coach with a new game plan. I use my God-given talents to glorify Him. I will never be a failure in His eyes.

Q: What has God taught you through CEI?

A: God has shown me that I can use the talents He has given me as a platform for reaching out to others and sharing the Word of God. I can actually do what I have a passion for and use it as an evangelistic tool. Through this and with my involvement in CEI God has given me a heart for missions.

Q: In what way were you surprised when you went to Mexico?

A: In Mexico, I was very surprised at how accepting the people were of us. So many people were interested in what we had to say. They wanted to hear about the plan of salvation and they were open to taking the time to sit down with us. They were big on relationships with us and that helped us get right to their heart. When you compare Mexico to the United States with the people being willing to accept a Christian evangelical group, the two countries are just completely different.

Q: How have you seen God supply your needs through your college days?

A: Coming off of a hard year from my freshman year that lead into back surgery over the summer and then a transfer of schools at mid year, I have definitely seen the Lord's sovereign hand in all of it. He has planned and ordained each one of my days specifically according to His purpose. He has also supplied all my necessary needs to get me through it all. As I look back (now that I am on the sunnier side of things) I can see how perfectly everything was planned and the purpose that each event had in my life. Praise the Lord that He was in control.
