Q: What is the most important thing in your life and why?

A: The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ. He has completely changed my life and the way I see things. While I was growing up and especially in high school, I felt so empty. I felt that I was missing something. There was a void that was growing inside of me. I thought friends, sports, parties, and drinking would fill that emptiness. It never did. It was in college where I accepted Christ as my Savior. He made me whole and He is all I'll ever need!

Q: How does your perception of softball/athletics differ now than prior to becoming a Christian?

A: I have always enjoyed all kinds of athletics. I have always worked hard in practice and I never cheated in the long, hard workouts (or the short easy ones, in case you were wondering). I wanted to be recognized as one of the top players on the team. I worked hard so that I could get the glory. When I accepted Christ my purpose for playing changed. I learned that God is the One who has blessed me with athletic ability. I needed to give ALL the GLORY TO HIM! I wasn't playing for myself anymore. I was playing for a higher purpose. Now I coach for a higher purpose. I still love to win, but I now know that there is more to winning and losing. It's about the people you come in touch with during your times in sports. It's about what you share with them. It's about winning souls. It's about giving God glory for what He has blessed me with. Softball is a tool that God has given me to share His Word.

Q: What has God taught you through CEI?

A: God has taught me through CEI, how important it is to be in fellowship with Him and other Christians. Fellowship brings me closer to God and keeps me accountable. There have been many times this year when situations have got me down, but God and the people He has placed in my life have lifted me up. That has been so crucial in my life. I am forever grateful to our Lord. He is the only One who knows exactly what I need and He is the only One who will always love me unconditionally!
